January 2009 St Martin Events

Classic Yacht Regatta
During the third week of January, classic yacht owners, captains, crew and sail enthusiasts flock to St Martin to see acres of canvas, wooden masts, schooners, spirit of tradition yachts, vintage and classics, workboats and gaff cutters sailing in turquoise blue waters surrounded by white sandy beaches.

February 2009 St Martin Events

Carnival (French side)
Held annually, The Carnival is when the streets of Marigot are crowded with people of all ages who are looking to dance and celebrate. At the end of the parade route, everyone meets at the "Carnival Village" where the evening goes on with concerts and events.

March 2009 St Martin Events

Heineken Regatta
This yearly sailors competition has 3 days of world class yachts and sailing expertise. Tactical racing for all levels and 4 nights of non-stop fun with international and local entertainment both on and off the water. Runs March 5-8, 2009.

Quicksilver Windsurfing/Kitesurfing Challenge
Held annually in mid-March

April 2009 St Martin Events

Carnival (Dutch side)
Two carnivals are held on the island each year - the one on the French side takes place in February, keeping the tradition of the French Creole Mas, while the other, the largest of the two, is celebrated on the Dutch side over a period of 17 days and nights with its main parade scheduled to coincide with the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands, Beatrix on April 30.

May 2009 St Martin Events

Ecotourism day
As a way to promote ecotourism, this event features sea kayaking, scuba diving, horseback or mountain bike riding and treasure hunts. Local artisans display their talents with herbs, spices, pottery, coffee and wonderful local dishes.

Water sport festival
Organized activities include a yacht trip from Fort Louis through the Anguilla channel towards Grand Case and back. Also offered are Jet-ski, kayak or windsurf rentals and lessons.

July 2009 St Martin Events

National Day (Bastille Day)
National holiday. A colorful parade winds through the streets of Marigot to celebrate Bastille Day – similar to the US Fourth of July celebration. The central event of the festival is a sailboat race of small island-made boats.

Christmas Lighting Galore competition
During the entire month of December, Christmas lighting decoration competition surrounding 3 categories (Individual homes, Businesses, Yachts).
