Important Travel Information
for St. Martin Vacations

Passports & Immigration
WIMCO recommends that U.S. citizens ALWAYS travel with a valid passport whenever traveling outside of the continental US. While many of our destinations may only require a birth certificate and a valid driver's license at this time, immigration requirements may change without any notice. For ALL other non-US citizens, please check with the embassy of the country/island to which you are traveling (French, British, Italian) to see if you need a special visa. (Note: If one of a honeymooning couple is a US Citizen and the other is not, a visa is still required by the non-US citizen). When bringing a nanny or babysitter, please be sure that they too have appropriate documentation.

Cars
We recommend you rent a car on St. Martin, as it is difficult to get around without one. Jeeps and enclosed cars are available for approximately 50 to $60 per day during the high season, and slightly lower during off-season.

Arrival/Departure
It is important to let WIMCO know your complete flight itinerary so that you can be met at the airport. A representative from the island management firm will be on hand to accompany you to your villa. Check-in time is generally 3:00 p.m., and checkout time is 12:00 noon. Please be considerate to the maid and the next guest by leaving the villa on time.

Plane Schedule
We advise checking local and international airline schedules near your date of travel, as they may change without notice. Once on-island, it is imperative that you reconfirm your returning flights 3 days prior to departure.

Provisioning
Provisioning is available with advance notice. All items needed in the house are to be purchased by the renter. The manager staff will also be happy to point out the location of various shops and stores where you may make additional purchases.

Catering Services
WIMCO can arrange for catering services to occasionally prepare meals in your villa, but we require sufficient notice to make these arrangements. There are also numerous excellent restaurants offering exquisitely prepared gourmet meals.

Babysitting
Please let us know well in advance if you require this service, as well as the hours necessary. Babysitting is difficult to arrange and have on an all day basis. Please indicate the need for a crib or an extra bed for children as well.

Clothing
St. Martin is a typical slow paced, relaxed Caribbean island. Clothing should be lightweight and comfortable. Most restaurant dining does not require jacket and tie. Entering upscale shops in swimsuits is not endorsed.

Voltage
The voltage on St. Martin is typically 220V, 60 cycles (not 110V as it is in the U.S.), although many villas now have 110V. If you intend to bring razors, hairdryers, chargers, etc. we suggest you bring converters and plug adapters.

Telephone
Renters on St. Martin can call locally on St. Martin, St. Barthélemy, and Guadeloupe. You can receive all incoming calls. If you want to dial internationally, you can rent a cellular phone (approximately $5 per day plus the cost of calls) or you may use an A&T Access number.

Credit Cards
Most establishments accept credit cards, but we recommend bringing enough cash or traveler’s checks for your stay. (Identification is occasionally required for credit card transactions.)

Linens
All villas include daily mad service (except Sundays and holidays). All linens, such as sheets and towels, are provided in your rental villa although you may want to bring a beach towel. The maid will change your linens at least twice a week. (You may also arrange for her to do your personal laundry for a small fee – tipping is considered Good Island custom.) There are Laundromats and dry cleaning services located in Marigot and Philipsburg.
