Caribbean’s St. Barts Hosts Island-Wide Fundraiser For Tsunami Orphans On Monday, Jan. 24

NEWPORT, RI, January 2005 -- It’s high season on St. Barts in the Caribbean and promoters of a fundraising concert and auction for orphans of the tsunami are counting on the largesse of tourists as well as island residents to turn out in droves on Monday, Jan. 24 when the music starts at 6 p.m. in front of the Town Hall & Wall House Museum in Gustavia.

All the money raised on this evening will be donated to Orphelins Sans Frontieres & Kash Bunda (Sri-Lankan orphans).

Auction Items Include Surfboard Signed by Jimmy Buffet

The “Benefit Children of Asia” is enlisting the talents of island piano, violin and dance studios, as well as local urban folk and jazz artists.

After a celebratory release of balloons at 6, as the evening moves on musicians of the local Music Festival will start to jam.

The concert is free with donations welcomed.

Simultaneously there will be a fundraising auction at Town Hall including jewelry donations by Cartier, Bulgari, Diamond Genesis, Chopard & Fabienne Miot. Boutiques donating are Hermès, Teck, The House, Sea Memory and Ralph Lauren. Donations of travel include Wimco’s donation of a 3 day weekend at the Hotel Montalembert in Paris’ Left Bank, Sibarth’s donation of a week’s holiday in villa SOL on St. Jean Beach, hotel stays at Eden Rock and Guanahani, and boating excursions on board Long Fox and Ticonderoga. Among other items for auction will be a photo by Patrick Demarchelier and a surfboard signed by Jimmy Buffet.
