Antigua Hurricane Recovery News

Hurricane Irma passed through the Caribbean on September 5-7, 2017.  Jose and Maria followed shortly thereafter. The villas, hotels and restaurants on the island of Antigua came through largely unscathed. As October 23, 2017, all sources confirm that Antigua is open for business, and WIMCO will stop publishing weekly updates. (please refresh the page to see the latest news).

Antigua

** Latest News: VCBIA airport has resumed normal operations.

• Villas: Jumby Bay Island has reopened as of Oct. 9. There is no structural damage to any of the resorts or the villas we represent.
• Hotels: Curtain Bluff is undamaged and reopening Oct 28. Cocos Hotel, there is no long-term damage. At Galley Bay: Guests are safe. An in-depth assessment of the property will take place on Sept. 21. Hermitage Bay was a little waterlogged from the swells, but otherwise all is well. At Keyonna Beach Resort, there is no long-term damage. At Pineapple Beach Club, guests are safe and the resort will begin welcoming new guests starting Sept. 14. At St. James Club, guests are safe and the resort will begin welcoming new guests starting Sept. 14. At Verandah, the resort will reopen as scheduled on Oct. 14 after renovations.
• Airport: VCBIA airport has resumed normal operations. Post Irma Update from Winair: "Currently the fleet is operating from the Island of St. Kitts as fuel and security for aircraft are not yet present in St. Martin, moving forward Winair is currently in the process of rebuilding and reintroducing a limited schedule serving the following destinations: Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barth, Antigua and St. Kitts, once the authorization is given by the appropriate authorities. We are optimistic that this will be granted by October 1, 2017. Tortola, Guadeloupe, Dominica and San Juan will be additional destinations once facilities and approvals are granted for resumption of service." • Update from Tradewind Aviation: "We are pleased to announce that scheduled flights to Nevis will resume on December 15th. Flights to Nevis are now available from both San Juan (SJU) and Antigua (ANU). San Juan – Nevis will operate 5 days per week (Thursday – Monday) Antigua– Nevis will operate 2 days per week (Fridays and Sundays)."
