Update on the recovery of St. Martin Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria
Hurricane Irma passed through the Caribbean on September 5-7, 2017. Jose and Maria followed shortly thereafter. Several islands were battered by high winds and storm surges. ** Latest News: St. Martin has recovered well and more than 1,200 hotel rooms are open and they are projecting to have 2,145 available hotel rooms ready by the end of the year! More than 80% of cafés, restaurants, and bars are open, along with 90% of land excursions that are currently back in operation. Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA/SXM Airport) has opened to accept all commercial flights and the main floor of the terminal will reopen in November, 2018.

Airport: Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA/SXM Airport) has opened to accept all commercial flights and the main floor of the terminal will reopen in November, 2018. Delta, American Airlines, Pawa Dominicana, Seaborne, InselAir, and Winair have all relaunched operations. Copa Airlines have resumed operations. Winair has stated they will be flying limited flights to islands including St. Barths, Saba, Statia, Antigua, and St. Kitts.
Port: The cargo section at Port St. Maarten, Dutch side of the island, is operational. St. Maarten’s cruise port reopened on November 11. Carnival Cruise Line resumed calls to St. Maarten at the beginning of January 2018.
Ferry: The public ferry service to Marigot Bay in St. Martin operates every 45 minutes, with 14 trips a day.
Beaches: All beaches are clean and open for swimming.
Roads: Roads have been cleared.
Events: St Martin has opened a new Rainforest Adventures Rockland Estate eco-park.
