WIMCO Villas Announced as Official Partner of Les Voiles De St. Barths Regatta; their concierge team will manage villa reservations, travel planning and local services for participants and spectators.

St. Barthelemy, French West Indies Islands. – WIMCO Villas announced its return as a sponsor of Les Voiles de Saint Barth Regatta, which will run April 8th through April 14th on the Caribbean island. As the exclusive villa rental partner of the race, the hospitality company will provide accommodations and its signature personal concierge service to sailors, sponsors and suppliers, as well as media members and sailing fans. While the island has rebounded from the impact of Hurricane Irma last fall, 90% of its hotel rooms are still under repair and will not be available until later in the year. A villa rental—which comes with a private pool, daily housekeeping and WIMCO’s personal-assistant like concierge service—is an attractive alternative for sailing crews and spectators. Sixty yachts will participate in this year’s five day long regatta. Regatta organizers report that there will be eight race categories spanning Maxi’s (including last years winner ’88 long Rambler) to multi hull speeders like 66’ long Paedo. Organizers will once again erect a race village on the quay in Gustavia harbor with live concerts staged after each day’s races, starting at 7pm. The race village also features a long bar, serving some of the best rum punch on the island! Of interest to sailing fans, the dates for the regatta fall the day after low-season prices start for villa rentals.
Musician Jimmy Buffett returns as the official ambassador of the event, and hopes that the regatta will contribute to the full recovery of the island. Buffett’s love affair with St. Barths began when he was moving a boat to the Caribbean. “I sailed into the harbor in 1978 and it’s always kind of been my second Caribbean home, after Florida. My kids all kind of grew up down there. I’ve seen it in a lot of phases and I think it’s one of the most unique spots on the planet.”
