Nantucket Trip Report

We also went to Jetties beach, where guests can rent windsurfers, lasers, kayaks and more. There are beach chairs and umbrellas and cabana boys to help you set them up. Jenny also let us in on a little secret – The Galley – which is the perfect place to have a sunset cocktail and snack. Chairs and tikki torches are set up on the beach and it’s a fun, casual scene to wrap up a day at the beach or an 8 hour day at the office. It is opened for lunch and dinner, and dinner is more upscale.

Saturday we spent a full day viewing villas in various locations around the island. It is very important in planning a vacation to know if you’d prefer to be in the eastern ocean facing edges of the island like charming Sconset, the western end for sunsets and driving on the dunes like Madaket, or staying on Washington Street or New Street so you can walk to the farmer’s market, shops, restaurants, and nightlife right in town. The experience of a vacationing in a villa in town will be a very different experience from a rambling summer villa with a private pool near the beach.

The villas we viewed were wonderful! Sunny, inviting beach cottages in Sconset NAN BEA and NAN GRA, an eight bedroom home in Tom Nevers, NAN BOS,

complete with its own tennis court, lap pool, and outdoor pizza oven, to a comfortable three bedroom, NAN MIL

– we have put together a great selection of villas, in lots of interesting areas of the island, spanning a wide range of prices.

While town can become quite busy in the high season, clients renting homes further out can provision themselves at the Stop and Shop, Gliddens Island Seafood, and the recently expanded Bartlett Farms, and never have to venture into town. A fine day at the beach topped off by a lobster clam bake already prepared, what could be better?

There’s also the Miacomet Golf Course, if the beach isn’t your desire, the island’s only public 18 hole golf course. Fees are $110 dollars for 18 holes, and $65.00 for nine. Wimco can get a Tee time for you if you ask us ahead of time.
