Ko'Olina Lagoons

These four man-made lagoons are perfect for swimming at any time of the year. Rock barriers provide protection from the ocean and high surf. The lagoons are sandy beaches surrounded by grass and shaded picnic areas. Services and amenities include picnic areas, restrooms, showers, phones, sand and reef area, lifeguards, wheelchair access, concession cart, public access boat ramp, grass and shady areas. Good for swimming and body boarding.

Sunset Beach

One of the longest sand beaches in Oahu, running two miles in length and 200-300 feet wide on the North Shore. Calm ocean in the summer with crystal clear water and white sand, great for swimming and snorkeling; tide pools great for collecting shells. During the winter, one of the best for surfing with waves often between 15 and 20 feet high making it perfect for yearly international surfing competitions. There are lifeguards and picnic areas.

Kailua Beach

One of Oahu's most beautiful beaches, with excellent swimming and wind surfing. The beach is perfect for sunbathing and recreational activities. This area is also a world-class wind surfing destination. Lessons and rental gear can be purchased nearby. Several offshore islands create a beautiful backdrop to this tropical destination. Services include lifegaurds, picnic area with tables and pavillion, restrooms, showers, phones, concession stands.

Lanikai Beach

The water is exceptionally clear and blue and two beautiful, offshore islands known as the Mokuluas, add to the tropical atmosphere of the area. Access is only available by a public access walkway. There is a sandy beach with shady areas, no lifegaurds or facilities. Good place for swimming and snorkeling.

Hanauma Bay

Hawaii's most famous snorkeling destination. Best to go early to find a parking spot, often crowded. Entrance fee of $5 per person.

Waikiki Beach

One of the most famous beaches in the world on the South Shore. Two mile stretch of white sand and tourist facilities. Amenities and services include picnic areas, concession stands, lifeguards, snorkeling and body board rentals, restrooms, showers, and phones.
