Oahu has many events, big and small throughout the year. There are PGA and LPGA Golf Tour events, the NFL Pro Bowl and scores of local events – Oahu has a lot to offer! Hula exhibitions and competitions are wonderful opportunities to see the ancient (kahiko) hula and the contemporary (auana) hula danced by young children and men and women of all ages. They are held throughout the year. Consult a local newspaper for dates and locations. Along with the 4th of July and Veterans Day, the state celebrates Kamehameha Day, Prince Kuhio Day and Statehood Day.

Sony Open in Hawaii

The Sony Open in Hawaii is a "Friends of Hawaii Charities" event, that is the first full field event of the 2010 PGA TOUR. It takes place on the island of Oahu at the Waialae Country Club. Past champions include Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and Jerry Kelly. An important golfing event in Hawaii. $15 per day advance, $20 at gate The event raises money for local Hawaiian charities. Hawaii Missionary Truck Show

Mission Houses Museum, Tuesday - Saturday; 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Admission $6. - Coming to Hawai‘i: A Trunk Show is a fun and creative look at the first protestant missionaries who came to Hawai‘i and what they brought with them. Based on journals, letters and newspaper reports, and using some of the actual trunks and objects carried on board ship by the missionary families between 1819 and 1847, we explore the hardships, sacrifices and joys of people following their dream to come to Hawai‘i. We then look at what people today bring when they come to Hawai‘i as well as the dreams they are following.

NFL Pro Bowl
Second Week of February
Following the Super Bowl, the biggest names and hardest hitters in the National Football League (NFL) travel to Oahu for the NFL Pro Bowl as the all-star professional football players battle for conference bragging rights at Aloha Stadium. Events prior to the game include an autograph session, ohana (family) day, cheerleader appearances, and tailgate party.
SBS Open at Turtle Bay
Tour professionals launch the exciting 2019 official LPGA season at the SBS OPEN on the North Shore of Oahu. The first full-field competition of the year takes aim at Turtle Bay Resort’s Palmer Course.
March Oahu Events
The annual Honolulu Festival celebrates cultures from across the Pacific. This three-day celebration of art, music, dance, and crafts is filled with spectacular sights and sounds, including aboriginal dance performances, cultural demonstrations and a vibrant parade through Waikiki.
April Oahu Events
Local music sensation Jack Johnson hosts his annual Kokua Festival on Earth Day weekend at the Waikiki Shell. The festival always includes an incredible music lineup and past festival entertainers include Jack Johnson, the Dave Matthews Band, Eddie Vedder, young troubadour Matt Costa, and local island favorites. The popular event benefits the Kokua Hawaii Foundation and promotes eco-friendly living. Food booths, products and services from green companies, alternative energy demonstrations, interactive games and crafts for kids, and information from environmentally active groups from around the islands are also featured.

Lei Day Celebration
May 1, 2009 - a celebration including entertainment, food booths and a lei making contest takes place at the beautiful Queen Kapiolani Park and Bandstand in Waikiki and is followed by an honoring of Hawaii’s alii at Mauna Ala and Kawaiahao on May 2. This year marks the 82nd anniversary of the celebration of Lei Day in Hawaii.

12th Annual Haleiwa Arts Festival Summer Event
Experience a broad spectrum of traditional, contemporary and ethnic arts at Haleiwa Beach Park in the historic town of Haleiwa. On summer weekends Buddhist temples hold O-Bon festivals with services, candlelighting ceremonies, and folk dances and drumming -- anyone can join in.
September 2019 Oahu Events
This premier showcase celebrates Hawaii’s music, dance, history, and is intended to preserve the islands’ unique traditions. It is Hawaii’s largest festival and the only statewide celebration in the nation. Over the past 60 years, the festival has grown to encompass 300 events on six islands spanning a two-month period. Oahu festivities include a floral parade, Kapolei Mele, Waikiki Hoolaulea, Oahu Falsetto Contest, and more.

Vans Triple Crown of Surfing
The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing returns to the North Shore of Oahu for the men’s series and women’s Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach. Kicking off with the Op Pro at Haleiwa, the series continues with the O’Neill World Cup of Surfing and women’s Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach, and lastly the Billabong Pipeline Masters at the infamous Banzai Pipeline. Oahu’s North Shore is home to these final events on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) calendar that will crown surfing’s new world champions.
