Barefoot luxuries await inside, with a distinctive Caribbean charm. Floral patterns, vaulted ceilings, and antique wooden furnishings all create an island ambiance. Views over the undulating hills and sparkling ocean are on show from every room.

Sitting around one mile outside of the village of Cruz Bay, Villa Caneel Trailside Cottage is nestled on the ridge between Caneel Hill and Margaret Hill. The Virgin Islands National Park is easily accessible, as are the pristine North Shore beaches and the busy port of Cruz Bay.

Living Spaces: A stylish great room has island-style bamboo furnishings, home to the living room, dining table, and kitchen. Doors open onto the outdoor terrace, washing the space in the cooling island trade winds.

Relaxing is easy in the living room, with a soft sofa and armchair, and flat-screen TV as well. Whether you’re planning your day’s activities or taking it easy with a cool drink and movie, this is the spot for it. The sofa also doubles as a queen-sized bed for extra guests.

The great room has island-style bamboo furnishings and opens to the terrace with a gas grill and a small outdoor dining area. The great room comprises a living area with a queen-size sofa bed and a kitchen with a spacious counter.

Kitchen and Dining Room: The well-equipped kitchen at Caneel Trailside Cottage is ideal for self-catering getaways. High-end appliances can handle any culinary challenge thrown their way. The concierge service can also help with grocery pre-stocking or delivery. For night’s off, why not ask about a catered meal or private chef?

The dining table in the great room offers a nice spot inside to enjoy your meal. Another table is on the covered terrace outside, letting you pair your meal with the island breeze and stunning views over the ocean.

Bedrooms: The 2 air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Caneel Trailside Cottage are bright and spacious.

One bedroom has a plush king-sized bed, while the other has two twin beds that can be made into a king upon request. Both come with an ensuite bathroom as well as access to a private porch overlooking the sea.

Outdoor Features: The covered porch at Caneel Trailside Cottage is an ideal spot for leisure time outside. When the sun starts to set, the lounge offers a comfortable spot to sink in with a cocktail and admire the colors lighting up the island landscapes.

Downstairs, a brick deck with teak loungers surrounds the villa’s pool. Swimming and sunbathing are the only order of the day here, with a luscious garden providing the utmost in privacy.

Forty yards from the villa you’ll find the Caneel Hill Trail, which drops down to the secluded white sand beaches of the North Shore in less than 45 minutes. There’s Honeymoon Beach, Caneel Bay, and Solomon Bay all offering pristine sand and sparkling turquoise water.

Follow the trail in the other direction and within half an hour you’ll be in Cruz Bay, where you’ll find plenty of shops and restaurants. The Caneel Hill Observation Platform is also only a ¼-mile hike, offering 360-degree views over the Caribbean, Atlantic, and the entire western half of St. John.
