Turks & Caicos: Home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches
At WIMCO, we know that there are places in the world that are unique in their ability to remain preserved. Places like the Turks & Caicos, where 25 year ago the Turks & Caicos tourist board’s advertising slogan was, “Where on earth are the Turks & Caicos?!” Today it is an exclusive Caribbean vacation destination which welcomes visitors to discover its many wonders.
Travel writer Michael Iachetta had the opportunity to visit the Turks & Caicos and discover all these islands have to offer.
“They call themselves “The Belongers.” As in they belong in the Turks & Caicos Islands because they were born and bred there. And they call the “they comin'” people “points of light.” As in tourists coming in on planes seen in the distant sky as points of light approaching the “T&C” island chain that is just beyond the southernmost Bahamas.

T&C may arguably have the loveliest aquamarine seawater this side of a watercolor or oil painting. It also has the most extensive National Parks system in the Caribbean, with 33 protected areas covering 325 square miles.
The most oft-visited T&C island is Providenciales, or Provo. The main Provo attraction is a 12-mile beach, perhaps one of the most beautiful in the world.
Sporting activities are centered around water: visitors can choose from deep-sea, reef or bone fishing, sailing excursions, windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing, tandem skydiving, snorkeling, scuba diving, helmet diving and beachcombing. And there’s world-class whale watching during the winter months when humpback whales holiday at the banks to the southeast of T&C.
One of the most popular attractions is the island of Little Water Cay, a nature reserve home to the country’s endemic iguanas. It is like entering a bit of the Galapagos, a time capsule from the days of the dinosaurs.

Northwest Point may well be the most adventurous expedition, with a four-wheel drive vehicle recommended for the bumpy roads heading westward. Either walk the north shores beaches west of windswept Crystal Bay, or travel to the west on Malcolm Road for the beach. For a real adventure, walk all the way around the point, thrilling to exotic sea birds, crashing waves and isolation that makes you feel a world apart from civilization.”
