Long Bay Beach, Turks & Caicos

The long, quiet, pearly beachfront of Long Bay Turks & Caicos serves as the number-one kiteboarding hotspot on Provo.

Location: Long Bay Beach Turks & Caicos lies on the southeastern, Caicos Bank side of Providenciales. It forms the sandy seashore adjoining the Long Bay Hills neighborhood. 

Why it's unique: Exposed to the steady trade winds, Long Bay Beach comes bathed in onshore and along-shore breezes. The waters of the bay are also shallow and sandy-floored well offshore.  It’s also a springboard for reaching the well-known wreck of the La Famille Express offshore.

Best for... Kiteboarding, shelling

Accessibility: The three-mile Long Bay beachfront can be accessed from several points. Many use the Shore Club parking and follow a boardwalk to the northeastern section. Other paths off Long Bay Beach Drive lead you to the southwestern area. 

Amenities: You won’t find any public amenities or commercial operations on Long Bay Beach: only sand, surf, and villas.

Restaurants Nearby: While there aren’t any restaurants within easy walking distance to Long Bay Beach, a number are just a short drive away. These include Crackpot Kitchen, Mackay’s Cafe, Turks Kebab, Le Bouchon Du Village, and The Deck.

Activities: As mentioned before, Long Bay Beach is best known as a kiteboarding hub. The expansive shallow waters, coupled with those reliable tradewinds, make it ideal for beginner kiteboarders and experts alike. 

Watching the kites fly and stroll the long strand is also a blast. Boat charters tour the La Famille Express, grounded on the Caicos Bank offshore during 2004’s Hurricane Frances.

Know Before You Go: The orientation of Long Bay Beach also makes for prime sunrise viewing. The southwestern stretch of the beach tends to be the quietest.

Villas Near Long Bay Beach

A couple of outstanding villa rentals offer direct Long Bay Beach access. They include the five-bedroom Villa Isla ( TNC ISL) right on the beach.
