Insider’s tips for shopping in St Barts

Beware the lunch hour: In Gustavia most shopkeepers open around 9am or 10am then close for a leisurely dejeuner (lunch) that may last until 2pm or 3pm (most shops then stay open until 6-7pm).

We suggest dropping in to town to shop in the morning, when there are more parking spots available, then heading out to lunch at one of St Barts great beach bars.

Time your trip for the sales! There are two officially designated sales seasons at the beginning and end of the tourism season. The first is in early to mid-November, just before Thanksgiving. The second starts in mid May and can run into June. Most shops will mark down everything, including couture -- so you can expect to find some great deals during “les soldes” de St Barts.
