Unblemished and protected by two peninsulas, Petit Cul de Sac Beach on St. Barts evokes a vision of French West Indies perfection. Beloved by locals, this unspoiled beach serves up calm, inviting waters and splendid sightlines. 

Oh, and the icing on the cake…it’s just out of the way enough to be off people’s radar! This is definitely in the “hidden treasure” category of Saint Barthélemy’s beaches.

Location: Petit Cul de Sac lies along the easternmost of four bays indenting St. Barts’ northeastern shore. To the west is Anse du Grand Cul-de-Sac. The lagoon of Petit Étang is to the southwest. Rugged, scenic hills enfold Petit Cul de Sac, with many palms in view for a maximum tropical flavor.

Why it's unique: The generally uncrowded vibe of Petit Cul de Sac compared to your average St. Barts beach is one of its main selling points. The absence of development preserves the distinctive natural beauty of the beach.

Best for... Quiet, family-friendly sunbathing, picnicking, and swimming.

Accessibility: A dead-end road and a short path afford access to Petit Cul de Sac Beach.

Amenities: You won’t find any amenities on this beach. That’s definitely an attraction in and of itself. You’ll want to pack in your own food and water.

Restaurants Nearby: There aren’t any restaurants within easy walking distance of Petit Cul de Sac. However, a number await your appetite just a short drive away. They include Le Rivage St Barth (serving a mean pizza), Amis St. Barth (with its celebrated French-Mediterranean cuisine), and Le Toiny Beach Club, delivering an unbeatable ambience. 

Activities: Lounging, strolling, and picnicking are popular pastimes here. So is taking advantage of the bay’s calm waters for swimming and snorkeling. Keep your eyes peeled for sea turtles!

Know Before You Go: Given the lack of amenities, you’ll want to plan ahead when visiting Petit Cul de Sac. Bring your picnic supplies, beach chair/umbrella, and other essentials.

WIMCO Insider Tip: Petit Cul de Sac isn’t well-marked — one reason it’s nicely off the beaten path. That means it’s not the most straightforward to find. When headed for Toiny, hang a left after the salt pond to get here.
