Full Season: Yea or Nay

There was plenty of back-and-forth conversation between the cast and executive producer Andy Cohen about the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.

The idea of RHONY was the brainchild of Luann de Lesseps, who made the suggestion about the girls going away together on a trip. It was suggested by Cohen that a full season was not what the ladies wanted but preferred a luxury vacation instead.

Short and sweet, with everyone agreeing, a girls' trip was doable and a much better option than dragging out a complete season. So RHUGT was born.

The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy Background in St Barts

For those who may be new to watching RHONY, some of the girls have already been to St Barts with the show, and are looking forward to vacationing there again.

In Season 5 of RHONY, back in 2012, there were changes to the cast, with four of the original real housewives fired, leaving three of the original cast – LuAnn de Lessups, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer.

Three new cast members came aboard: Carle Radziwill, Aviva Drescher, and Heather Thomson.

Season 5 of Peacock's original The Real Housewives of New York City in 2012 began in New York City, but the ladies made their way to St Barts for a luxury girls' trip vacation, except for Aviva who remained in New York for personal reasons.

During their time filming RHONY in St Barts, the ladies lived in first-class luxury from dusk to dawn in villa Dunes, one of the most stunning contemporary villas on the island.

The girls shot scenes in and around the villa, and also in some of the most popular hot spots on the island.

One St Barts RHONY episode took the group to the legendary cabaret dinner club Le TI Caribbean tavern with their Johnny Depp look-alike, Tomas, for refreshing tequila shots and a party-down pirate-themed cabaret show.

Cast of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip (Season 5)

What makes RHUGT Season 5 appealing is not only the beautiful locations but also the attitudes and personalities of the ladies traveling to Saint Barthelemy for a second round of fun in the Caribbean sun.

The cast, this time around, includes Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Kristen Taekman, Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer.

Here are some interesting tidbits about the ladies featured in season four and five.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon is a former model, a mom, and currently a real estate professional.

Kristen Taekman is obsessed with Elvis Presley and tattoos. She's also married, is a mom, and still finds time to be a professional model.

Dorinda Medley has worn many hats. These include being a socialite, TV star, an aerobics teacher in the 1980s, and she was part owner of DCL Cashmere in London, where Princess Diana was a frequent client.

Luann de Lesseps is from a large family, so, she knows what it means and what it takes to interact with people with differing views.

Sonja Morgan is a socialite, philanthropist, TV personality, and former fashion critic.

Ramona Singer has been a main member of the Real Housewives cast members for 13 seasons. She once worked with Calvin Klein. She's an avid NFL Bucs fan, and, along with her husband, founded a jewelry company.

The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip (Season 5): Filming Location

To be featured as an ultimate girls trip destination, an island needs to check off all the boxes that give a destination the required sizzle. The island of St Barts was a natural choice.

With its miles of gorgeous beaches, dramatic mountain top vistas, upscale shopping, rowdy wine-soaked beach clubs, fine dining, active nightlife, and extraordinarily beautiful Caribbean villas, it's no wonder St Barts has been chosen twice by producers for filming RHONY.

The base location for filming the real housewives of New York episode in St Barts took place in the six-bedroom Villa Dunes, represented by WIMCO Villas. RHONY producers booked the villa in 2012 and again in 2023 for a repeat performance.

While the ladies lounged in luxury at their RHONY St Barts House, viewers got to see all that the Villa Dunes in Saline had to offer inside and outside.

The 16,000-square-foot villa sits on a private two-acre plot surrounded by a protected green zone, with views of nearby Saline Beach.

It provides the perfect luxury setting for an ultimate girl's getaway trip. Its vast multi-level pool creates an ideal setting for sunning and dishing out gossip. And its restaurant-quality kitchen has everything a private chef requires to prepare an indulgent in-villa feast.

Villa Dunes offers exceptional views and is conveniently located just a short walk from the sugar-sand beach. It includes two heated pools, a game room, a wine cellar, a complete gym, and exquisitely designed and detailed furnishings and accessories.

With such impressive features, it's no wonder that the Villa Dunes was chosen as the ideal filming location for the St Barts RHONY episode.

The villa is only a few minutes by car from the beach clubs in St Jean, and the nightlife in Gustavia…so the girls have easy access to everything that makes St Barts such a coveted getaway spot.

What Makes St Barts a Great Girls' Trip Destination?

St Barts has more than a few good reasons to be the girls' chosen destination for a fun morning, noon, and night. It’s also one of producer Andy Cohen’s favorite vacation spots.

This concierge is available 24/7 to make restaurant reservations, set-up activities like sunset cruises, arrange private chef service for an indulgent dinner by the pool under the stars, and so much more.
