Location & Surroundings

Hotel Christopher St-Barth lies on the western flank of the bluffy Pointe Milou peninsula, which juts into the ocean on the northeastern coastline of St. Barts. The hotel is sheltered some from the trade winds, kissed by the sea breeze, and looking over Anse de Lorient. It is a unique and lovely place indeed to call home for a while.

Not far away is Lorient Beach, among St. Barts’ most scenic, known for its top-notch surfing. Hotel Christopher St Barth guests find themselves 10 minutes or less from the lively village and happening beachfront of St-Jean.

And St. Barts’ capital of Gustavia, with its dining, shopping, nightlife, and historical sightseeing, is only about a 15-minute drive.

Amenities & Services

The number-one amenity at Hotel Christopher is surely the infinity pool, which ranks as the largest swimming pool on St. Barts. It’s not just about size, though: The pool delivers incredible views seaward, with the sense that you’re soaking and sunbathing almost atop the ocean.

Set with loungers and supported all day with food and beverage service, the Hotel Christopher infinity pool is the center of the action. (If by “action” you mean a lot of blissful, unadulterated inaction under that Caribbean sun.)

But the hotel is also noteworthy for its Sisley Spa, connected with the high-class Parisian brand and recipient of more than a few top honors from the World Spa Awards.

Awash in its impressive sea backdrop—including every treatment room—Sisley Spa features signature Phyto-Aromatic Sisley treatments, from massages and scrubs to facial rituals. There are yoga, Pilates, and other wellness classes available.

The property also maintains a fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical, RPM bike, and various weight-lifting equipment.

Room Types & Quality

Views out across the Bay of Lorient, past offshore islets and out to the ocean horizon, amplify the accommodations at Hotel Christopher. A spare, crisp, minimalist-modern style defines the rooms and suites, while Creole-inspired architecture adds character to the buildings.

The ocean-facing rooms and suites fall across eight categories, from the loft-style 327-square-foot Ocean Terrace Rooms with direct access to the infinity pool to the amazing Ocean Panoramic Suites (689 square feet), which indeed deliver endless sightlines.

The three Hotel Christopher villasVillas Niña, Pinta, and Maria—are “like private islands,” as the property itself describes them. Sleeping eight to 10 people in their 2,600-square-foot, four-bedroom floorplans, the villas boast private 280-square-foot pools, butler service, and (naturally) amazing coastline/seascape scenery.

Restaurants & Culinary Options

Dining at Rivyera

The gastronomy at Hotel Christopher is definitely noteworthy. The RIVYERA Restaurant and RIVYERA Bar bring the cuisine—and the vibes—of the South of France to the Pointe Milou oceanfront.

The French Riviera cuisine, tinted and deepened by Caribbean flavors and ingredients, comes courtesy of a high-powered chef: Arnaud Faye.

Chef Arnaud’s illustrious C.V. includes helming multiple Michelin-starred restaurants in France, including Espadon at The Ritz in Paris, the Mandarin Oriental Paris, and Auberge de Jeu Paume. He selected rising-star Chef Mathis Larrode to oversee the day-to-day operations in the Hotel Christopher kitchens.

The top-shelf dining here is all day: from the breakfast buffet and the feet-in-sand lunches to the more refined RIVYERA dinners. For lunch, it’s hard to choose between the Rockefeller cheddar-and-bacon burger, the lobster rolls, or the Risotto-of-the-Day.

A RIVYERA dinner could range from Smoked Eggplant Caviar and Confit Vegetables Ratatouille to Local Lobster Linguine, spicy lamb, Local Fish “Crudo,” or a catch-of-the-day plate showcasing local ocean bounty.

Meanwhile, the hotel bar certainly delivers with its diverse cocktails, fine wines, and other libations.

As we’ve mentioned, food and beverage service includes the lounge zone of the infinity pool. You’ve also got 24-hour room service to enjoy here, which, depending on the time of day, can include RIVYERA entrées.

The oceanfront infinity pool. That biggest island pool is indeed the centerpiece of Hotel Christopher’s attractions. More general draws to this hotel include the hip, younger crowd it tends to attract, and the fact that it’s about the most affordable of St. Barts’ high-end hotels.

It’s also worth noting that the hotel is pursuing various efforts on the sustainability front, recognized in 2021 with Green Globe Environmental Certification status.
